Picker, packer, loader, and dark-store roles hire in volume — but only candidates with complete documents and clear shift availability move quickly from screening to joining. Use this checklist before you apply or attend a warehouse interview in India.

Understand the role before you apply

Warehouse and quick-commerce work is physical and process-driven. Typical tasks include picking SKUs from racks, packing orders, scanning barcodes, loading vehicles, and maintaining hygiene standards. Night and early-morning shifts are common because orders peak around meal times and festival seasons.

• Follow PPE rules when provided (cap, gloves, reflector jacket)
• No running in aisles; watch for pallet movers and carts
• Report spills, damaged racks, or broken packaging immediately
• Keep phone use limited to work apps during shift

How to answer warehouse screening questions

• Can you do night shift? — Answer clearly with transport plan if nights are far from home.
• Have you used a handheld scanner? — If yes, say so. If no, emphasise willingness to learn barcode process.
• How do you reduce picking errors? — “I check SKU name, size, and quantity before packing and rescan when unsure.”
• Why warehouse work? — Talk about steady shifts, process discipline, and growth into inventory or team lead roles.
